Snyder Cut of “Justice League” Could be 4-Hour Movie or a Mini Series

As we’re still collecting our thoughts about this mornings’ news regarding the long-fabled Snyder Cut of “Justice League” actually being released, some details about exactly what this entails are starting to come to light.

Reported earlier today, the official word hit about Zack Snyder‘s directorial vision of “Justice League” getting an audience at HBO MAX really set the Twittersphere ablaze.

Oh, it’ll actually be called “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.”

“It will be an entirely new thing,” Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter. “And, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie.”

“I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality,” he continued in the press release. “I always thought it was a thing that in 20 years, maybe somebody would do a documentary and I could lend them the footage, little snippets of a cut no one has ever seen.”

But what exactly will this cut be? Apparently, the theatrically released version of “Justice League” only had roughly 1/4 of the shot footage available to Warner Bros. Pictures. This could mean the HBO MAX version might be a feature film running four hours long, or the more HBO-style 6-episode mini series.

And what of the rumored additional $20-$40 million needed to “finish” Snyder’s cut? More than likely, that’ll go to completing various VFX and SVFX. At this time, there are no mentions of realistic reshoots.

Cheif Content Officer at HBO MAX Kevin Reilly said of the announcement:

“When Zack and Debbie shared the extraordinary vision of where Zack wanted to take Justice League, my team and our counterparts at Warner Bros. took it as a mission to solve the many issues that stood in the way. Thanks to the partnership at Warner Bros. and the relentless pursuit of the entire WarnerMax team we are able to deliver this incredibly exciting moment for Zack, the fans and HBO Max.”

“With the new platform and streaming services, you can have something like this. You can’t release something like this theatrically, but you could with a streaming service. It’s an opportunity that wasn’t there two years ago, to be honest,” Deborah Snyder said.

Pretty bold move for HBO MAX. We look forward to seeing the infographic of how many new subscribers they got today.

“Zack Snyder’s Justice League” will hit HBO MAX at some point in May of 2021. We’ll let you know what else we hear about it.
