Brace Yourselves—March 2020 Game Releases Are Coming!

Gamers. We’re a pretty fickle bunch. With so many video game options between consoles, genres, on the go, at home, and even entertainment outside the realm of video gaming, it can be pretty tough to compete for our attention. To make matters worse, there comes a time, a drought if you will, where quality game releases are far and few in between.

March 2020 is not one of them.

Through some sheer coincidence of timing, and not without delays, March 2020 is looking to be one of the most packed months for gaming we’ve seen in quite some time. Let’s take a look at what’s going on!

    In release order we have:

    • Final Fantasy VII Remake, PS4 [timed exclusive?], 3/3/2020 (Bottom right)
    • Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, Nintendo Switch, 3/6/2020 (Top left)
    • Animal Crossing New Horizons, Nintendo Switch, 3/20/2020 (Top Right)
    • DOOM Eternal, PS4/XBONE/PC, 3/20/2020 (Bottom Left)

You read that correctly, not only are all four of these major releases happening weeks apart, but two of them are happening on the SAME DAY. I’d love to meet another person who picks up and plays both DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing New Horizons, variety is the spice of life after all!

    Final Fantasy VII Remake

Without needing much introduction, Final Fantasy VII Remake has been on the tips of everyone’s tongues for years and years, ever since we saw the FFVII PS3 tech demo, we yearned to see one of the most praised RPGs of all time with a fresh coat of paint. In less than two short months, we’ll finally realize that dream, and then some on the PS4!

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX

It’s been almost 14 years since we got our hands on the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games that started it all, and many young new gamers learning what a roguelike is for the very first time. There were sequels over the years, but you never forget your first love. Nintendo surprised us all today by revealing the updated and enhanced Switch port, launching only days after FFVII Remake!

    Animal Crossing New Horizons

Animal Crossing, one of the most unique games to take Nintendo fans by storm. Can you believe it has been almost six years since there has been a brand new main line game? Happy Home Designer and Amiibo Festival were enjoyable diversions in 2015, but hardly the Animal Crossing experience fans have been itching for. With the Wii U missing out on a primary Animal Crossing game, it feels like we will be unanimously shouting, “FINALLY,” as we pick up our copy of Animal Crossing New Horizons on March 20th, 2020…

    …and DOOM Eternal, Too

No, seriously. Pick up BOTH games on March 20th. When your adrenaline level is MAXED as you’re barreling down stages, guns blazing and blood-soaked fists don’t even have time to dry before you plunge it into the next unfortunate creature that gets into your screens field of view…take a break and make some friends in Animal Crossing!

DOOM (2016) was a gaming reboot success story that many franchises with roots as deep as DOOM couldn’t even wish for. With a metacritic score of 85+ across PC, PS4 and XBONE it’s no surprise that DOOM reboot continued to sell well into 2019. Full packaged versions, new DLC, and even a Switch port, gamers new to DOOM were keeping sales up with new purchases around the clock.

If that wasn’t gushing over the game enough, how about the fact that DOOM Eternal is a direct sequel to DOOM (2016)? “As the DOOM Slayer, you return to find Earth has suffered a demonic invasion. Raze Hell and discover the Slayer’s origins and his enduring mission to rip and tear…until it is done.” – Bethesda

    The Real March Madness

Which of these releases are you looking forward to? All of them? None of them? You do have just about two months to plan—so start saving those pennies!

Final Fantasy VII Remake – 3/3/2020
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX – 3/6/2020
Animal Crossing New Horizons – 3/20/2020
    DOOM Eternal – 3/20/2020
