Boys and girls of every age, wouldn’t you like to see some Pokemon that are strange? Well you are in luck! Pokemon GO’s Halloween 2019 event kicks off in just a few days and there are a ton of exciting things to look forward to this year.

The Halloween 2019 events kicks off on October 17 and runs until 1 PM PT/ 4 PM ET on November 1. To get trainers into the spooky spirit, Niantic is offering new Halloween items in the Pokemon GO shop. These new items include a Pikachu onesie, a Mimikyu bag, a Litwick cap, a Zubat bag, and a Cubone cap. Also, Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon are spreading the spirit of the holiday by appearing more frequently in the wild and raids! Thus, you can expect to never be too far away from a ghastly ghoul such as Haunter or Sableye.

Who doesn’t want a Pikachu onesie?

As a bonus, costume-wearing versions of the first gen starters will be available in raids during the event. Keep an eye out for Bulbasaur in Shedinja costumes, Charmander in Cubone costumes, and Squirtle in Yamask costumes. Additonally, Pikachu wearing Mimikyu costumes can be found in the wild throughout the event. Especially lucky trainers can even find shiny versions of these costume-clad cuties!

Two new Pokemon are also making their Pokemon GO debut during this event. Shiny Yamask will be available for trainers to find, so be sure to check every one you see. Also, the Pitch-Black Pokemon Darkrai will be coming to five-star raids for the first time to truly bring fear to Halloween. Additionally, a new message promises trainers new Special Research tasks that will give them the chance to encounter a “Forbidden Pokemon.” You’ll have to complete these challenges to discover what this could mean.

Halloween certainly suits the dark and menacing Darkrai

Finally, Team Rocket is bringing their own twisted form of Halloween spirit with an expanded line-up of Shadow Pokemon. Trainers have the chance to rescue and purify shadow versions of the following: Sableye, Trapinch, Cacnea, Shuppet, Duskull, Nuzleaf, Seedot, Magmar, Electabuzz, Beedrill, Kakuna, and Weedle. So, make sure your Pokemon are in fighting shape so you can defeat these villains and claim new allies! Throughout the event, trainers will earn double candies, so it will be much easier to max out these new friends. So throw on a costume, grab a portable charger, and get ready for some frightening fun in a neighborhood near you!
