DMX Is Back With Def Jam To Rough Ride Us Home

Stop. Drop. DMX is back on the block.

Oh yes, the original agenda of hip-hop rage known as DMX has returned home to Def Jam Records.

According to XXLMag.com the Rough Rider will sign a new deal with the legendary label that was behind X’s staple albums It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot and Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood. XXL’s sources didn’t reveal the specifics of the contract but I pray another album is a part of it, and hopefully we hear it soon.

While D’s anger propelled him to an ultra successful career in the late 1990’s, he hasn’t done too much lately. We’ve seen him on the road and as part of those nostalgia rap festivals, yet on the studio front, it’s been crickets since 2012’s Undisputed.

The good news for X is that there has been an incredible evolution in what I’ve heard referred to as “punk rap” which I consider DMX to be adjacent to. Putting things simply, the genre is defined by its darker beats and aggressive vocals. Groups like Death Grips, Ho99o9 have laid out a perfect model for bringing the rage to a rap record. I only pray D follows picks up where they left off.

The signature DMX growl with the Death Grips beats would be absolute bliss.

Please Def Jam, make him an epic album!
