Alicia Vikander who played Lara Croft in the 2018 movie is returning to reprise her role in Tomb Raider 2. MGM has officially set a release date for the film.
Ben Wheatley is directing the film. He is known for indie films such as Kill List, High-Rise and Free Fire and has also lead episodes on Doctor Who and The Wrong Door. Set to write the script is Amy Jump who has worked with Wheatley before.
There is no information about the plot and details are currently under wraps. Previously we saw Vikander portray Croft in an origin story that failed to hit with audiences. It did however make a profit grossing $274 Million globally. A difference of $180 Million from the budget of $94M.
Tomb Raider 2 will premiere in theaters March 19, 2021
