    ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund Passes Away at 76

    It’s a sad day for wrestling fans around the world.

    WWE’s ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund passed away this morning at the age of 76. It was announced via Twitter by WWE.

    WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Gene Okerlund, the most recognizable interviewer in sports-entertainment history, has passed away at age 76. https://t.co/DyPiEiVLoV

    He was staple in the wrestling community as the calm, straight faced announcer and interviewer in the midst of all the wrestling chaos.
    In the 80’s, Gene Okerlund was as iconic and recognizable as the the wrestlers he interviewed.

    The cause if his death has not been released.

    Okerlund is survived by his wife and two children.

    Condolences to his family and friends. We will never forget you Mean Gene! Thank you for all the great memories and moments.
