The Goldbergs is preparing for its Halloween episode, and they have booked a particularly frightening guest star. Taking to Twitter to promote the special installment of the series, the show has shared a video clip featuring actress Wendi McLendon-Covey as Beverly Goldberg introducing the 80s master nightmare daddy, FREDDY KRUEGER!

Aren’t you excited?! Robert Englund is in full makeup as the infamous horror movie character! Making it all the more-headline worthy is that back in 2017, the actor expressed hesitance about reprising the role for a movie, according to this report from Cinema Blend. Another thing worthy of note is how stellar the special effects makeup is. CGI still does not create such a realistic result. It may not be a return to the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, but it is still very exciting for fans of the horror franchise.

It has been almost 15 years since Robert Englund portrayed Freddy Krueger in a movie. That happened in 2003’s Freddy vs. Jason. He did make a (voice) appearance in 2016 as the “One Eyed Peekaboo” monster in Nickelodeon’s Breadwinners, but that was more in homage than Freddy proper. And in 2010, the original film was remade with Rooney Mara in the lead, although Jackie Earle Haley took on the role of Krueger. With The Goldbergs‘ Adam love of pop culture, you can bet he will be involved with the appearance of Freddy Krueger!
