Spider-Man’s Biggest Villain Possibly Absent From New Sony Game

At E3 this year, we got to see Sony’s impressive villain lineup for their upcoming Spider-Man game. In the trailer, they introduced their take on the Sinister Six made up of Rhino, Vulture, Electro, Scorpion, Mr. Negative  and a mystery villain many believe to be Doctor Octopus. Unfortunately for some, a fan favorite villain by the name of Venom won’t be appearing anytime soon in Insomniacs take on the Spider-Man universe.  This was confirmed after a fan posted on twitter asking how big Venom would be in the upcoming game. Art Director Jacinda Chew responded with:Now we know other villains will be featured in this world, such as Kingpin and Norman Osborn (who is running for mayor of all things.) There will also be Easter eggs geared towards other Marvel heroes, such as Daredevil and Doctor Strange; there is a chance we can catch a nod or glimpse of the villainous symbiote somewhere in the game.

Venom’s absence also doesn’t rule out the chances that we will see the host of Venom, Eddie Brock. Eddie Brock may be the next possible villain of a sequel. The developers have stated they were influenced by the Batman Arkham series giving good indication they have plans for more games in the series. They could be holding off more of Spidey’s rogue gallery for future projects.

Insomniac has possibly created 2018’s game of the year even without the appearance of every ones favorite symbiote and other more popular members of Spider-Man’s rogue gallery. Like many others, I will be purchasing this game when it releases September 7th, 2018.

Are you excited for the new Spider-Man game? Do you think it’ll be solid even without the possibility of Venom? Tell Nerdbot about it in the comments and get the conversation going!
