Best Buy Says Goodbye to CDs

Effective June 30, 2018, Best Buy is no longer selling CDs. (Wait, what?!) An era is now gone as slowly other stores are phasing out CDs as well. Best Buy had announced earlier this year, and its probably due to the lack of sales. There has been reports that there has been a significant loss of sales(almost 14% in 2017, reported by USA Today), which has been decaying over the years.

Word around the playground is that Best Buy is clearing their CD inventory in order to make space for the copious amounts of toys they plan on selling in-store, trying to capitalize on the Toys R Us closure and snag some of the shopper bleed-over from the mega-chain’s loss.

On brighter news, you can still go to Best Buy to buy a vinyl. At least for the next 2 years you can. So time to stock up!

What are your feelings about CDs? Do you still use them? Let Nerdbot know in the comments.
