Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. aka Snoop Dogg lets his love of the gridiron show in “The Underdoggs.” The Grammy-nominated artist is not the first name that comes to mind to play a character outside of himself. Nor is he the first person that comes to mind when one thinks of “plausible former NFL player.” Yet if one is willing to suspend their disbelief on that, “The Underdoggs” has a surprising amount of earnestness.  Buried underneath a slew of vulgarities out of the mouth of babes (and by babes we mean the little league football team at the center of the…

Staring Gordon Corimer as Aang, the titular last Airbender, the trailer gives us a chance to see the cast in action.  Highlights include a shirtless Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, bantering allies Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Katara (Kiwaentiio) and of course an up close look at Appa! We also got a first look at some new stills. Comparisons between the original animated series, as well as…

Marvel Studios shows that investing in authenticity and representation pays off with their new Spotlight streaming series, “Echo.” Alaqua Cox, who first appeared as the character in “Hawkeye” is stunning as the titular warrior. Joining Lauren Ridloff’s Makkari from “The Eternals” as the second deaf character on screen. Cox is also an amputee, and member of the Menominee and Mohican nations.  All of those factors end up enhancing the story and character in a way that gave a wonderful glimpse inside one of the most layered characters we’ve seen in a while. Coinciding with the news that the Netflix Marvel…

Sad that the tribulations of “Squid Game: The Challenge” have ended (for now)? Good news for those willing to travel, or who are in Los Angeles. “Squid Game: The Trials” is here to test your mettle. The competition show certainly had its own set of hurdles to overcome in adapting the drama from a murder fest to a social experiment. (We highly recommend watching the making of on Netflix for an in depth look at the detailed efforts!) Translating that translation of an experience to a smaller more accessible scale was also no easy feat. Earlier this month, we got…

Hail “The Boys” bloody return in a new teaser trailer for season 4. First revealed at CCXP in Brazil, the teaser brings us Victoria Neuman’s (Claudia Doumit) rising political stardom. An utterly divided country is on the brink of eruption (sound familiar?) about the supe situation. We highly recommend watching the “Gen V” spin-off for some additional context for the events.  We also see a glimpse of new cast members Susan Heyward as Sister Sage, and Valorie Curry as Firecracker, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Sister Sage can be heard convincing unbalanced terror Homelander (Antony Starr) the perks of playing hero……

When “Squid Game: The Challenge” was announced as an inevitable “real life” version of the global phenomenon “Squid Game,” we were concerned. But after watching the competition series, consider us converts! While the series doesn’t quite have the character driven emotional complexity of its fictional counterpart, it does scratch that primal competitive itch. Fans of “Survivor” and “Big Brother” will find themselves right at home here. Since actual murder of the competitors isn’t on the table, the show found ways to up the social game. As a byproduct fans of other reality competition shows will recognize that the producers have…
