A Minnesota man is going to plead guilty to the theft of the ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland. As many know, the famous ruby slippers worn by Garland in “The Wizard of Oz” were stolen in 2005 and found in 2018. 76-year-old Terry Jon Martin has had a “crisis of conscience” and is confessing to the crime. The shoes were previously being kept at the Judy Garland Museum in the actress’s hometown of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. When they were stolen in 2005 the case became so huge that the FBI got involved. Electronics retailer Best Buy is finally phasing out the sale of physical media. The store will cease sales of DVD and Blu-ray discs in-store and online, following the 2023 holiday season. Microsoft has finally sealed the deal on their $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. It only took 21 months. Activision confirmed the sale had been finalized in a regulatory filing on Friday, October 13th, 2023. Microsoft is now considered a video game powerhouse with this acquisition, as they own several game publishers like Bethesda. Adult animated series “South Park” is coming back with another special for Paramount+ this month. Titled “South Park: Joining the Panderverse,” this is the first special that the series has produced in over a year. “Cartman’s deeply disturbing dreams portend the end of the life he knows and loves. Streaming giant Netflix has confirmed their in house animation division will be facing layoffs due to “restructuring.” An unknown number of people will be laid off in the coming weeks. The restructuring process will also result in less in-house produced animation content. Netflix intends to receive more projects from third-party through output deals. This is considered a more cost-effective alternative to the company producing their own content. Netflix previously signed output deals with Sony Pictures Animation, Nickelodeon, Illumination, and DreamWorks Animation. Kern County Sheriff deputies discovered a pizza topped with pepperoni, cheese, sausage, and a loaded handgun! This was discovered during a routine traffic stop in California on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023. The traffic stop was conducted around 3am about 74 miles southeast of Bakersfield, California. As deputies conducted the traffic stop for a simple code violation, they discovered a sawed-off shotgun, two handguns, and a plethora of drugs. “The Exorcist: Believer” had a solid box office opening weekend, but saw some hellish fire in the form of critic and audience reviews. The film did manage to recoup its production cost, earning $26.5 million domestic opening weekend. Globally, the film has pulled in around $44.2 million. This new edition to “The Exorcist” franchise is the first to be produced by Blumhouse, since the company purchased the rights in 2021. A24’s upcoming wrestling drama “The Iron Claw” finally has a trailer. Stars Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White (“The Bear”) look jacked and “ring ready.” Directed by Sean Durkin, the film centers on the Von Erich wrestling dynasty. Efron will be starring as the “Golden Warrior” Kevin Von Erich, with White playing his brother, Kerry Von Erich. It seems like at least one studio is learning from previous examples. Ridley Scott’s 4-hour director’s cut of “Napoleon” will reportedly get a release.
