Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

This last Droughtlander has been perhaps the worst for fans since “Outlander” premiered on STARZ back in 2014. Wow, just writing that is crazy. ANYHOW, this morning during the series’ panel at New York Comic Con (NYCC), a new teaser for the upcoming 6th season of the fantasy based on the works of Diana Gabaldon premiered. Season 6 will cover the 6th novel in the series, “A Breath of Snow and Ashes.” As you can see from the trailer, or if you’re a fan of the books, you’ll know what’s coming. Redcoats arriving at Fraser’s Ridge mean only one thing-…

We’re thinking MAYBE Natasha O’Keeffe is Lanfear, Meera Syal as Elaida, or some combo therein. We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other news.

New York Comic Con (NYCC) 2021 is upon us, and that means panels are happening. The annual pop culture gathering opted for a hybrid of in-person and virtual offerings, which has been pretty great for those of us who couldn’t make the trip this year. One of the panels we were most excited about is for Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming “The Wheel of Time.” Based on the multi-tome saga by Robert Jordan (and later finished by Brandon Sanderson), “Wheel of Time” is posed to be one of those special high fantasy television epics. We mean season 1 hasn’t even premiered…

One of our current deep sci-fi obsessions is getting a second season! Apple TV+ has opted to renew “Foundation,” based on the works of the great Isaac Asimov. If you’re looking for an uber intelligent universally vast television series to lose yourself in, we highly recommend it. Starring Lee Pace, the series chronicles a technologically advanced society coming to the reality that a collapse is imminent. Authorities set as deities clash with the civilization’s leading scientific mind (Jared Harris), leading to all kinds of problems for everyone. Showrunner (and literal kid in a candy store on this project) David S.…

We are pretty damn delighted to reveal that the upcoming “Hellraiser” reboot from Spyglass and Hulu has added a FEMALE Pinhead! This is one of those things we kind of always hoped would happen, but our love for Doug Bradly, the original Pinhead, knows no bounds.Principal photography has just wrapped on the film, prompting the casting announcement. Jamie Clayton (“The L Word: Generation Q,” “Sense8″) will be taking on the iconic role. Brandon Flynn (“13 Reasons Why,” “Ratched,”), Goran Visnjic (“The Boys,” “ER,”), Drew Starkey (“Outer Banks,” “Love, Simon,”), Adam Faison (“Everything’s Gonna Be Okay,” “Into the Dark”), Aoife Hinds…
