Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

I just want to start by saying if you’re really into either Riot Games’ League of Legends, or Netflix’s animated series “Arcane,” you HAVE to go visit Secret Cinema’s fully-immersive event in Los Angeles. When I say fully-immersive, I mean pretty darn fully. You’ll be able to visit and become a citizen of Piltover and Zaun!Working knowledge of this world isn’t strictly required, but it does certainly help. Once you purchase tickets for this special experience (two different price tiers of General Admission and Premiere), you’ll be required to set up an online profile via The Undercity. There is a…

[Rain sounds, Vangelis playing] Los Angeles. November 2021. While doing ye olde press junket for his upcoming film “House of Gucci,” Ridley Scott dropped some pretty big news. According to the 83-year old auteur, a live-action television series based on his seminal film “Blade Runner” is in the works. This is not to be confused with Crunchyroll’s “Blade Runner: Black Lotus” anime which is currently airing. This would be a wholly new project. “We [have already] written the pilot for ‘Blade Runner’ and the bible. So, we’re already presenting ‘Blade Runner’ as a TV show, the first 10 hours,” Scott…

If you can’t get enough “Guardians of the Galaxy,” you may want to plan to head to Walt Disney World in 2022. As we’ve known for sometime, the EPCOT area in Florida is getting an all-new attraction inspired by Marvel Studios’ hit films featuring the GoTG.Writer/director James Gunn has been our best source of information about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. We very much enjoyed Kevin Smith’s take on “Masters of the Universe” for Netflix. The animated series, “Masters of the Universe: Revelation,” boasted an incredible voice cast, and one of our favorite working composers. Emmy winner Bear McCreary created the score for the series, and has said it was a dream come true. We highly suggest reading McCreary’s in-depth blog about the experience on his website here.”Masters of the Universe: Revelation” part 2 hits Netflix this coming week. The pair of Smith and McCreary wanted to share some of their enthusiasm about the project with fans. So, enjoy this chat…

Tom Holland, adorable actor and source of spoilers extraordinaire, has done it again. The Brit has a history of ‘accidentally’ spoiling things about his films through his infectious exuberance. Not that we blame him, because imagine having his career and NOT wanting to enthuse about everything. This most recent slip comes after the new “Spider-Man: No Way Home” trailer hit. A key moment in said trailer seems to showcase villain The Lizard getting punched by an invisible force. Fan theories all seem to agree maybe the punch-thrower might be one of the previous Spider-Man actors rumored to appear in the…

Betcha thought we were done writing about “Dune,” huh? Much like Muad’Dib’s holy war, WE’LL NEVER BE DONE! Especially when 2021 retelling director Denis Villeneuve continues to drop details in interviews. Like today’s tidbit- those beautifully designed white-helmet wearing CHOAM Spacing Guild reps on Caladan weren’t Guild Navigators. If you’ll recall, in the first 10 minutes of this new version of Frank Herbert’s seminal science fiction tale, a delegation from the Paddishaw Emperor Shaddam IV comes to House Atreides homeworld of Caladan. The reason? To officially offer stewardship of planet Arrakis to Duke Leto, taking over from the notorious House…
