After years of rumors, we finally know who will be taking on the mantle of iconic Marvel Comics character Madame Web. As announced today, Dakota Johnson (“50 Shades of Grey,” “Susperia“) will star as the character.
Technically a mutant, the clairvoyant Madame Web is an important figure in the Spider-verse. She not only mentors generations of Spider-Woman, but also Peter Parker. We’re not sure if she’ll be sporting the traditional style for the character- much older, blind, and sometimes paralyzed- but we’re curious.
S.J. Clarkson, who had been originally set to become the first female director of a “Star Trek” feature, will helm this project for Sony.
We’ll let you know what else we hear about this and other news.
