Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

We are very sad to share the breaking news that Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed away. The news was confirmed by Buckingham Palace. “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”Prince Charles, at the age of 70, will be the eldest person to be crowned King following his mother’s passing. He is remaining Charles, and has become King Charles III. He has released a statement. Her Majesty was 96, and celebrated a 70-year reign. This story is developing…

We are delighted to start the day off with a new teaser. Rian Johnson’s upcoming “Knives Out” sequel, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” hit this morning. Daniel Craig returns as Detective Benoit Blanc, on a new case in Greece. “The phrase I kept coming back to and talking about the first movie is, ‘It’s a roller coaster and not a crossword puzzle,’” Johnson says about the film. “It’s a common mistake in writing whodunits, thinking that you’re making a crossword puzzle, and that the fun is that the audience is actually going to analyze all this and figure it out.…

We’re doing a lot of talking about racism and how it related to the works of JRR Tolkien. Specifically, the absolute ridiculousness of people complaining about casting non-white actors in major roles in “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” We won’t be linking to the multitudes of hateful comments and threats lobbed at both the cast and creatives on the series. But, we will share a recent statement made by the show’s official social media accounts. This comes, oddly enough, on the heels of a story from earlier today, with the original Fellowship Hobbits showing THEIR support…

We hate to burst your bubble, but the new female-presenting interpretation of Pinhead, iconic “Hellraiser” character, is actually MORE accurate to the source material. Based on the Clive Barker novella “The Hellbound Heart,” the Pinhead character was first brought to cinema life by the one and only Doug Bradley. Barker himself adapted his own work in 1987, directing and writing the film. This brings us to Hulu’s upcoming 2022 “Hellraiser,” with Jamie Clayton (“The L Word: Generation Q,” “Sense8“) taking on the iconic Pinhead role. [We’d like to remind you that Doug Bradley is VERY supportive of the casting.] A new…

Yes, there is a new trailer out for “Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One.” The 7th entry in the series looks to once again set the action/stunts bar incredibly high. So high in fact that star Tom Cruise needed to introduce the trailer on a plane’s wing while in the air. No really- he did that. “Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One” is set to hit theaters on July 14th, 2023.

The four original Hobbits from Peter Jackson’s iconic “The Lord of the Rings” films are repping a fully-inclusive Middle-earth. Recent online discourse about Amazon Prime Video’s “The Rings of Power” has been…truly awful, mostly stemming from claims of “woke casting.” Some absolutely abhorrent racist remarks have targeted members of the cast who are minorities, much of the ire being lobbed before the series even premiered. Which brings us to Dominic Monaghan (Meriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck), Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins), and Billy Boyd (Peregrin “Pippin” Took) wearing a wonderfully supportive t-shirt. Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee), while not pictured with the group, also…

Just in case you wanted to watch Sony’s disasterpiece “Morbius,” you can as of today, thanks to Netflix. (Although we’re not sure if ‘thanks’ is the right term here.) Perhaps one of the worst-reviewed superhero films this side of “Fant4stic,” the Jared Leto-starring “Spider-Man” villain solo film has become a bit of a cult flick. So much so that Sony, ever the clever ones, re-released it mere months after a pretty bad opening. And so, streaming giant Netflix has added the film as of September 7th, 2022. Watch at your own peril.

Actor Jason Momoa has once again taken a stand using his signature body hair. Perhaps you’ll remember when he shaved his iconic beard while in Wadi Rum (filming “Dune”) to bring awareness to the dangers of single-use plastic. The “Aquaman” star has taken it a step further this time- cutting his hair short for the first time since….”Stargate Atlantis?”It is once again a plea to stop single-use plastics being so prolific. You can see the post on the activist’s official Instagram below.

We need to tell you about an incredible cosplay gathering that happened over Labor Day. Atlanta’s own Dragon Con, which boasted 65,000 attendees this year, is always a hotspot for costumes and creativity. Giant group photoshoots that take months of planning (and even longer for those in costume sometimes!) happen almost hourly. One of our favorites from the 5-day pop culture gathering was this amazing “Dune” group.Imagine getting to march in the annual Dragon Con Parade while carrying a sandworm! Straight outta Arrakis and Denis Villenueve’s “Dune Part One.” There was a sietch of stillsuits, Atreides, Spacing Guild, the Paddishaw…
