We are delighted to share the news that Emmy nominee Anthony Carrigan is joining James Gunn’s upcoming DC Studios film, “Superman: Legacy!”Carrigan has played fan-favorite character NoHo Hank on HBO’s critically acclaimed series “Barry” for 4 seasons. Earlier this morning, he and writer/director/star Bill Hader each received Emmy nominations for their work on the show. This morning, the nominees for the 75th annual Emmy Awards were announced. Yes, there were some that we were absolutely expecting, but some even bigger surprises! Genre television still struggles to get it’s due, but that seems to be changing with this year’s field. Disney+ “Star Wars” series “Obi Wan Kenobi” actually scored a nomination for Best Limited Or Anthology Series, and “Andor” got a Best Drama Series nomination! The negotiation deadline for SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP to reach a deal is fast approaching, and things are not looking great for a deal to be reached. The newly looming deadline is Midnight of July 12th. Following some a piece regarding a call with various high ranking studio execs (Bob Iger of Disney, David Zaslav of Warner Bros. Discovery, and Ted Sarandos of Netflix) and ‘federally appointed mediation,’ SAG-AFTRA has released what we would categorize as a fairly scathing statement. This just in-Nathan Fillion has joined the cast of the upcoming James Gunn written-and-directed film, “Superman: Legacy.” He’s not just ‘appearing,’ either. He’ll FINALLY be taking on the role fans have wanted him to play for years, Green Lantern. Fillion will be portraying Guy Gardner, one of the many DC Comics characters to carry the ring. Other casting news included Isabela Merced (“Dora and the Lost City of Gold”) as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi (“X-Men: First Class”) as Mister Terrific. Warner Bros. Pictures has released what they’re touting as the ‘final’ trailer for the upcoming film, “Blue Beetle.” The film, which is the second-to-last in the pre James Gunn, Peter Safran-led DC Studios block, has been delayed more than once. The important thing though is it stars Xolo Maridueña ( “Cobra Kai”) as as Jaime Reyes, the first Latino superhero lead for the studio! We’re also getting Harvey Guillén and Susan Sarandon, so it’s already shaping up to be a pretty interesting movie. We were VERY sad to learn Padma Lakshmi was leaving her long-standing post as host of “Top Chef.” She’s been a high point of the culinary reality program since she joined it in it’s second season.
