Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

We are very sorry to share the news that Oscar and Tony nominated actress Melinda Dillon has passed away. Arguably best known for her role as Ralphie’s mom in the classic film “A Christmas Story,” Dillon had been a working actress since 1963. In Steven Spielberg’s iconic “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” Dillon played Jillian, mother of Barry and witnesser of the bright lights in the sky. Her beautiful performance received an Oscar nomination for her work in the film.Melinda Dillon’s family confirmed the sad news. She passed away on January 9th, at the age of 83.

It looks like filming for season 1 of Disney+’s upcoming “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” has wrapped! The live-action series will reintroduce the characters from Rick Riordan’s novels all about Percy Jackson, aka Perseus, living in the modern world. Riordan is VERY involved with the series, and has been nothing but excited and supportive of the project.
