A Florida boy was stabbed by a catfish in a New Port Richey pond, about 35 miles northwest of Tampa. According to WFLA, the catfish’s barb went 1-1.5 inches into the child’s chest cavity. The boy’s mother called 911 when he began experiencing breathing problems. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. Rescue personnel brought him as a trauma alert case. Thankfully, they were able to stabilize him shortly after admittance. A Union Pacific coal train derailed outside of Lawrence, Kansas. Thankfully no one was hurt, but the nearly 30 cars which detached from the engine did heavily damage the track. Further complicating matters, each of those cars carried what George Diepenbrock of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office helpfully described as a “large amount” of coal. This posed a serious problem for clean-up crews tasked with getting the trains running again. Regardless of one’s opinions on their games, they have consistently demonstrated a lack of compassion or respect for their employees.
