Hi, I’m Amy. I like long walks in the graveyard, horror movies, comic books, and bringing you the latest in nerd-centric news.

We’re back with another edition of Urban Legend: Fact or Fiction. In this chapter, we are going to find out if flattening a penny on a railroad track can derail a train. So strap in and enjoy this surprisingly smooth ride. The Story “Hey, you know you shouldn’t flatten pennies on train tracks. Graduates of the University of Maryland will get a rare treat on May 22nd, a commencement speech by a frog. But not just any ol’ frog, no, this address is being given by “The Muppets”’ own Kermit the Frog. This will be his first commencement address in nearly 30 years! “I’m so humbled by it,” Kermit said. “I’m kind of taking this seriously — as seriously as a singing, dancing frog can take anything.” His speech will focus on graduates taking a “leap” into opportunity, while underscoring that adulthood doesn’t mean losing your inner child.  The University of Maryland is…

You know how some fans of deceased performers visit their graves to pay respects or leave a small gift? Well, there are some people who like to watch the world burn and vandalize these same resting places. Officers found the bust during an unrelated investigation by a financial anti-corruption unit. At this time, it’s unclear if the sculpture will be returned to the gravesite or placed somewhere more secure. It is also unclear how much damage it may have sustained…

Can you smell that fresh Derry air? HBO has just unleashed the first teaser trailer for the “IT” prequel series, “It: Welcome to Derry.” The show is expected to debut sometime this fall, and we’re betting on October, but nothing is set in stone. “Welcome to Derry” is a nine-episode series that serves as a prequel to Stephen King’s 1986 novel “IT.” The show’s plot will be based on Mike Hanlon’s interludes from King’s book. These asides document the “catastrophic events” of Derry’s horrific past. “IT” was first adapted in 1990 as a TV miniseries starring the legendary Tim Curry…

Looks like America is entering its “Running Man” era, except we’re replacing convicts with potential immigrants. Producer Rob Worsoff (“Duck Dynasty”) has pitched The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a reality competition show about gaining U.S. citizenship. If it comes to fruition, the show will be called “The American.” “The American” puts a group of immigrants on a train that drives all around the country. They will compete in regionally specific ‘cultural’ contests, like assembling a Model T in Detroit, at each stop. All in hopes of fast-tracking their way to U.S. citizenship.  While this may all sound like a…

We finally have a full trailer for writer/director James Gunn’s upcoming film “Superman.” Starring David Corenswet as the titular superhero, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The full trailer mainly focuses on Lois trying to interview her boyfriend, Clark Kent, as his superhero alter ego, Superman. She grills him about an attack he launched, but he insists he was stopping a war. As she keeps asking questions, like any good journalist would, the Man of Steel becomes angrier and angrier. Their conversation is intercut with your typical superhero movie fare. Buildings blowing up, kids being…
