It’s always bittersweet to see legendary entertainers retire, and Ozzy Osbourne is no exception. On July 5th, the “Back to the Beginning” concert featured final performances from Ozzy and legendary rock band Black Sabbath, alongside other non-retiring acts. Musical director and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello confirmed the concert raised $190 million for several charities. All proceeds from the event will be divided between Cure Parkinson’s (a disease that Ozzy suffers from), Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice. Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and Texas lawmakers are battling over who gets to keep a huge piece of history. The Space Shuttle Discovery is at the heart of this perplexing and poorly timed debate. In a bill passed by Congress earlier this month, there is an $85 million provision to relocate the craft from Northern Virginia to Houston. The Space Shuttle Discovery has been on display at the Smithsonian’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Northern Virginia since 2012. “Are We Not Men? We Are DEVO!” Netflix has acquired the rights to the documentary “DEVO,” about the beloved genre-crossing band.  The film, directed by Chris Smith, premiered during the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. “DEVO” follows members Mark Mothersbaugh, Bob Mothersbaugh, Gerald Casale, Bob Casale, and Alan Myers through the band’s formation to the present. They formed in 1973 after witnessing the 1970 Kent State shootings. A tragedy where the Ohio National Guard opened fire during a protest against the Vietnam War, claiming four lives.  This horrible event helped shape their “de-evolution” ideology. Marvel’s “Black Panther” stars Danai Gurira and Michael B. Jordan are teaming up again! Gurira will officially star opposite Jordan in his reimagining of “The Thomas Crown Affair.” The original 1968 film tells the story of a bank executive (Steve McQueen) who believes he has pulled off the perfect multi-million-dollar heist. That is, until an insurance investigator (Faye Dunaway) catches on to him. It was remade once before in 1999, starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. Filmmaker Jon M. Chu is in high demand after “Wicked” nabbed 10 Oscar nominations and made over $756 million globally. CD Projekt Red made an exciting announcement after their Cyberpunk: Edgerunners — Behind the Scenes With Its Creators panel at Anime Expo. Story writer/producer Bartosz Sztybor and director Hiroyuki Imaishi confirmed that “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2” is in production!  However, Imaishi will be stepping down as director, with Kai Ikarashi (“SSSS.Gridman”) making their debut. “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2” has Kanno Ichigo (“Promare”) as lead character designer and Masahiko Otsuka (“Gurren Lagann”) writing the screenplay. The release of Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is just around the corner, and the advertising is in full swing.
