    “Salvation is sacrifice.”

Magnolia Entertainment has released a trailer for a new film written and directed by Lotfy Nathan (“Harka”). “The Carpenter’s Son” will star Nicolas Cage (“The Surfer”) as Joseph, father to Jesus, in this bible-based horror movie. FKA twigs (“The Crow”), Noah Jupe (“A Quiet Place”), and Isla Johnston (“Invasion”) also star in this eerie feature.

The upcoming film is being billed as a horror spin on Jesus’ childhood, inspired by Nathan’s Coptic Christian childhood and the Infancy Gospel of Thomas. It takes place in a remote village in Roman-era Egypt. The region becomes embroiled in spiritual warfare when Joseph (Cage), Mary (twigs), and their teenage son Jesus (Jupe) are targeted by supernatural forces. Despite the family having dealt with this for years, a visit to a small settlement unleashes all hell when a mysterious stranger (Johnston) tries to entice young Jesus to abandon his faith.

With every temptation, Jesus is lured into a forbidden world. While his terrified father sees and tries to warn him of the demonic forces at work, there. A wave of violent, unnatural events inexplicably follows Jesus, and he begins to experience nightmarish visions of the future. Eventually, he heeds his father’s warnings, and he learns the fearsome truth about his new playmate, Satan.

“The Carpenter’s Son” hits theaters on November 14th. You can watch the creepy new trailer below:
