To promote their new line of caffeinated ice teas, they gave us all the gift of heavy metal grannies.  Liquid Death’s ad is directed by “Jackass” co-creator Jeff Tremaine. Who, unsurprisingly, has it littered with “Jackass” style stunts performed by people dressed up as elderly women. There are apprentices by skater/MMA fighter Jason Ellis, musician Jen Razavi, comedian Shapel Lacey, and skater Dane Burman. Director Tim Story’s (“Queens”) new horror comedy “The Blackening” just got its first trailer. The film has already made its debut at the Toronto Film Festival, and had a positive reception. “The Blackening” centers around seven friends who get together over Juneteenth weekend at a stereotypical cabin in the woods. The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office in Nebraska respond to a report of a suspicious vehicle just northwest of the main Wood Duck Recreation Area. When law enforcement found the vehicle, it had two occupants; Ramiro Hernandez-Tziquin and Domingo Zetino-Hernandez. They were in possession of the corpse of a bald eagle they they apparently shot with a rifle. The reason they shot the national symbol? Well, they wanted to cook it and eat it. A prequel stage production based on Netflix’s hit “Stranger Things” is heading to the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End. “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” is based on an original story by show creators The Duffer Brothers, Jack Thorne, and Kate Trefry. The play is written by Trefry, and is directed by Stephen Daldry with co-direction by Justin Martin.  The play will take place in the fictitious town of Hawkins in 1959. Amazon has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming adaptation of the 1988 thriller, “Dead Ringers.” The original film was directed by the master of body horror, David Cronenberg. It stars Jeremy Irons playing a pair of identical twins who are also genius gynecologists. That is until their preoccupation with drugs and sharing their sexual partners leads them down a road of increasingly more paranoid and violent behavior.  The  “Dead Ringers” mini-series will be a gender-swapped adaptation starring Rachel Weisz as the twins. Primetime Emmy nominee Jenna Fischer (“The Office”) has officially joined the cast of Paramount Pictures’ upcoming“Mean Girls” movie musical. This will be a film adaptation of the 12-time Tony-nominated Broadway musical of the same name, based on the 2004 mega-hit satirical comedy film. Fischer will play the role of Ms. Heron, Cady Heron’s mom. A role that was originally done by “Saturday Night Live” alumni Ana Gasteyer. Musician Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye will be making his debut as a lead actor in a currently untitled film directed by Trey Edward Shults (“Waves”). Tesfaye will be starring alongside Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”) and Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan (“The Banshees of Inisherin”). While plot details are still under wraps, the film is currently in production. We know the script was co-written by Shult, Tesfaye, and his producing partner Reza Fahim. In 2011, scientists recorded a previously unknown feeding strategy in whales. Now researchers in Australia think they’ve found evidence of the same behavior being recorded more than 2,000 years ago. Specifically, in texts that describe ancient accounts of sea creatures. Meaning this recently rediscovered behavior may be the key to understanding the legends behind these mythical monsters. The rediscovered behavior is whales staying near the surface of the water with their jaws open at right angles. An upcoming reissue of Sir Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels will be edited to remove and alter offensive passages and phrases. This comes on the heels of Roald Dahl’s children’s books offering a version with offensive terms removed. The new collection will be released in celebration of the 70th anniversary of “Casino Royale,” the first book in the series. Ian Fleming Publications Ltd, the rights holders for the novels, decided to commission a review by sensitivity readers. Just like the right’s holder’s for Dahl’s work did. It’s hard to escape all of the buzz that the new horror comedy “Cocaine Bear” is generating. The film is based on the real life story of a black bear that ingested a duffle bag full of cocaine. In the movie, the bear goes on a drug-fueled rampage. But in reality, the bear passed away due to an overdose from the 75 pounds of cocaine it consumed.
