The animated feature “The Canterville Ghost” will be getting a theatrical release in the US courtesy of Shout! Studios and Blue Fox Entertainment. The film has already played as an Official Selection of the 2023 Annecy Animation Film Festival and has been well received. It is expected to hit theaters just in time for Halloween.

“The Canterville Ghost” is a reimagining of a short story by Oscar Wilde by the same name. It tells the story of an American family that moves into Canterville Chase, a recently purchased country home in England, only to find its haunted. Turns out Sir Simon de Canterville (Stephen Fry) has been haunting the grounds for over 300 years, but he meets his match when he tries to scare out its new tenants.
The voice cast also includes Hugh Laurie (“House”), Freddie Highmore (“The Good Doctor”), Emily Carey (“House of the Dragon”), David Harewood (“Supergirl”), Meera Syal (“Yesterday”), Miranda Hart (“Spy”), Toby Jones (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”), and Imelda Staunton (“The Crown”). “The Canterville Ghost,” is directed by Kim Burdon (“Stressed Eric”) and co-director Robert Chandler (“The Amazing Maurice”), from a screenplay by Giles New and Keiron Self. New and Self previously penned the script for the Sky original film “A Christmas Number One,” together.
The acquisition of “The Canterville Ghost,” is part of a multi-year alliance between Shout! Studios and Blue Fox Entertainment.
