“House of the Dragon” co-showrunner and director Miguel Sapochnik has officially left the show. It’s a prequel series that takes place almost 2 centuries before the events of “Game of Thrones,” which Sapochnik also directed/executive produced. “House of the Dragon” focuses on the internal war for succession within House Targaryen. Sapochnik served as co-showrunner, alongside Ryan Condal. While season 1 just came to a close in October, Sapochnik has been developing this series for 3 years. Clearly, this is a property he is very invested in and his departure probably wasn’t a decision to be made lightly. The reason for his…

Very few film franchises even come close to the pop culture monolith that is “Star Wars.” We all like to think these films, shows, books, comics, etc have been dissected to the point where there is nothing left to learn about them. Then Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, comes out of left field and gives us hungry fans something fun and new. A black-and-white video features Harrison Ford reading for Han Solo alongside Hamill as Skywalker was posted to Twitter in 2019. Journalist Carl Quintanilla asked Hamill if he could “share any color on this.” Hamill explained at the time…
Over the holidays, two drivers in Tralee, Ireland settled a dispute over a parking space in the most civilized manner possible. Their method you may ask? A game of rock, paper, scissors of course. On December 23rd, Chloe Lawlor captured the moment of peak adulthood when she was behind two cars battling over a parking space. What we see are two drivers with their arms out the window. But instead of it coming to blows or screaming they are simply playing the classic game. The winner gets the space, and the loser drives off without any hesitation or argument. The short…

In 1976 it was discovered that a dummy within The Pike’s Laff in the Dark funhouse in Long Beach, CA was actually a real corpse. The body belonged to a man named Elmer McCurdy, this is his story. McCurdy was born in 1880 near Bangor, Maine, to the well-to-do McCurdy family. His mother, Sadie, was 17 and unwed. Elmer’s father is unknown. At that time, being an illegitimate child came with a rack of ostracization and stigma. So, seeing no future in Maine, he headed west as soon as he could. By 1910, Elmer found himself in Oklahoma with no…
HBO Max is ringing in the new year by cutting even more programming from the service. As of December 31st, Warner Bros. Discovery removed seasons 16-31 of “Looney Tunes.” These make up 256 of the 511 episodes that had been hosted on the streaming platform. So about half of the iconic series got cut, and we’ll never know if it’s duck or rabbit season. This is just the latest in a wave of removals from HBO Max which seems to be effecting everything, but mostly animated/children’s programming. So far pulled titles include “Aquaman: King of Atlantis,” “Infinity Train,” “Esme &…
