Actor Sean Gunn (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) has taken to Twitter to correct a now-removed interview he did with The Hollywood Reporter while standing on the Netflix picket line. The interview revolved around his role as Kirk on the show “Gilmore Girls,” which is currently streaming on Netflix. And the compensation, or lack thereof, he received from the streamer. After sharing a video of the interview with Gunn, THR removed it. “…because it did not note that the residuals Gunn was referencing are paid by the studio [Warner Bros. Discovery] and not the streamer, Netflix,” THR explained in a follow-up…

Back in 2013, Netflix was dipping its toe into the waters of streaming content. The company started out with two flagship series, “House of Cards,” followed by “Orange is the New Black.”  Some of the cast of Netflix’s mega-hit series “OITNB” claims they were never ‘fairly compensated.’ The series centers around a wealthy, normally law-abiding woman Piper (Taylor Schilling) going to prison. It was revered not only for its diverse, mostly female cast, but its exploration of the American prison system. The Emmy-winning series became a phenomenon that showed Netflix could compete with cable.  With all the benefits the streamer…

Discovery has filed to have Paramount’s partial motion to dismiss the case tossed out of court. Paramount along with show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, were seeking to disperse the $200 million lawsuit all together. “Defendants’ Motion has the dubious distinction of trying to downplay while simultaneously highlighting the very misconduct which forced Plaintiff to file this suit,” a statement from Warner Bros. Discovery reads. “The reality is that Defendant South Park Digital Studios agreed…

One of the many legitimate reasons SAG-AFTRA is striking is due to the AMPTP demanding actors allow productions to do ‘full body scans of performers.’ It’s not just the scans, it’s the fact that actors would only be paid a day’s wages to be scanned. Those results would then be the property of the production, “for the rest of eternity,” with the actor never receiving compensation for uses of their likeness. SAG President Fran Drescher and National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland addressed the public in a rousing press conference yesterday, announcing the strike. They touched on this scanning…

The “Barbie” movie hype train just keeps gaining momentum.
