There was a time in the world of video games where nearly every movie that came out, had to have a video game based on it. Often times this would happen with things that couldn’t perceivably even have a game attached to it whether it be the “Alvin & the Chipmunks” movies or “Up” from Pixar. Even “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” got a PC adventure game back in the 80s. Things have improved over time in terms of passionate developers tackling things they love. So, it’s our hope that we’re about to time warp again to a place where…

Here we are again. Yet another day and another piece of news regarding a movie being made that you’ve already seen or know the property it’s attached to. Was anyone really asking for a new adaptation of “American Psycho” to be made? Our guess is, “not really,” but here we are and it’s apparently happening courtesy of Lionsgate. At the very least though, they look to be getting the talented Luca Guadagnino to direct it. In the event you’re not familiar with “American Psycho” it began its life as a book from 1991 by Bret Easton Ellis. The author had…
Oh October, here you are again. You know, over the last few years I’ve tried to help broaden the musical landscapes of readers around this spooky season by writing some articles about Halloween songs. But these lists haven’t been about your “Thriller” or “Monster Mash” fare, I’ve been digging deeper to bring you some tracks you may not know about or may not think of as Halloween songs despite how eerie they may be lyrically, musically, or thematically. If you want to check out the previous lists you can do so here and here before moving on to the selections…
In 1987, film-going audiences were treated the cheesy machismo that was “The Running Man.” Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, the movie saw him pitted against the forces of a government-backed game show where he had to fight to win, survive, and live. If you haven’t seen the movie, it is very much worth your time because of how over the top enjoyable it is. An updated version is on the way, from director Edgar Wright and screenwriter Michael Bacall. Starring Glen Powell (“Twisters”) in the main contestant role and Katy O’Brien (“Love Lies Bleeding”) as another contestant, this has the potential to…
It’s a safe bet to assume that you, your parents, or a friend of your parents grew up owning a View-Master. Considering that the stereoscopic viewing devices were made in the late 1930’s it’s probably safe to say that your grandparents had one too. Currently owned by Mattel, they’re not quite as commonplace as they were back in “the day” but that’s not stopping the toy company from trying to adapt the viewing device into a major motion picture. Maybe you can blame it on the success of “Barbie,” but Mattel got a taste of that sweet, sweet blockbuster money…
October is a wonderful month to relax when you really think about it. For those of us with distinct seasonal changes, it’s the last vestige of warm temperatures. It’s the time of good-natured horror and frights, and the last month before the holiday rush. So yeah, good time to relax before you have to think about holiday spending and family and meals and Christmas songs. And what better way to relax while the air gets chilly, with a warm soak in a tub with a Halloween bath bomb from our friends at PopFizzion? Popfizzion is a small, independently owned company…
Ask 10 different people what their favorite Kevin Smith movie is and you could get a variety of answers. One of the more consistent ones is the 1999 classic, “Dogma.” Combining typical Jay & Silent Bob comedy stylings with Catholic themes (and Alanis Morissette) led to a memorable film from a director who already had made and would continue to make, memorable films. But, Smith’s relationship with the film would be tarnished by someone else holding the rights to it. We’re happy to report that situation has finally changed. Unlike many of Smith’s other projects, “Dogma” has not been available…
“Bring a shining light to every face, it shines for all to see. To make the world a brighter place, Rainbow Brite and me.” Those immortal lyrics came at the end of the 1985 theatrical feature, “Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer.” No, the sentences you read were not part of a fever dream that someone at Nerdbot had, this was all part of Hallmark trying to push a character into popular culture through toys, dolls, clothes, a TV show, and film. If you weren’t familiar with Rainbow Brite before this and think you dodged a bullet, think again my…
There will only ever be one Dan Aykroyd. The writer, Blues Brother, comedian, Ghostbuster, vodka producer, ufologist, is a Canadian national treasure, and has brought his talents to the world in a number of ways. Of course, he became widely known to the American public thanks to his being one of the original cast members of “Saturday Night Live” when it premiered in 1975. With the release of the movie, “Saturday Night” that chronicles “SNL’s” first broadcast, one might think that Aykroyd would have some thoughts on the matter. Sure enough, he does. Aykroyd took to X (formerly Twitter) to…
Another day, another announcement of a video game adaptation. Sometimes it’s hard to stay neutral when reporting on projects like this, especially in the wake of Eli Roth’s disappointing “Borderlands.” At the very least, we’re in a time period where it’s no longer a guarantee projects based on a game is going to be dreadful. After all, “Fallout” was really damn good, and even something like “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” was delightful and charming in all of its simplicity. But what do you do when there’s an announcement like this most recent one for an adaptation of “Shinobi?” If…
