More Crazy Nicolas Cage: “Prisoners of the Ghostland” Trailer Drops

Despite his brief turned as more human and nuanced character in “Pig,” it seems the crazy Cage train isn’t slowing down for anything. Nicolas Cage has become an entity unto himself, and has seemingly embraced the Cage persona of wild, crazy, out there character who seems to be in just about everything. Cage has starred in close to 11 films in the last 2 years, the latest of which titled “Prisoners of the Ghostland” recently dropped a new trailer after debuting at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

The trailer again seems like an answer to a question I keep asking despite not really wanting to be able to: How much Cage can Nick Cage cage if Nick Cage could Nick Cage? This isn’t the first time I’ve asked this question, but “Prisoners of the Ghostland” looks like it plans to cement itself as the definitive new answer. Directed by acclaimed Japanese director Sion Sono and also starring Sofia Boutella, the trailer sports so unnerving visuals and a seemingly even stranger premise, perfect for yet another Nick Cage vehicle.

“Prisoner’s of the Ghostland” is about a notorious criminal (Cage) who is tasked by a warlord known as the Governor (Bill Mosley) to find his granddaughter (Sofia Boutella) and break an evil curse. He has 5 days to find her or the bomb on his balls (yes, you read that right) will explode. Cage travels to the mysterious outer world of the Ghostland, where things seem to ramp up and not be what they seem. The trailer looks incredibly promising, delivering the bonkers action and unnerving visuals that look to be pure insanity. It looks like the kind of film no one can really describe, and needs to be seen to be believed.

Frankly, you had me at bomb balls, samurais and Nick Cage.

Truth be told, I’ve been burned before by the promise of extremely Nick Cage caging, but if the batshit insanity of “Prisoners of the Ghostland” matches what is promised in the trailer, then I’m ready to believe again.

    Sign. Me. Up.

“Prisoners of the Ghostland” is set to arrive in theaters and VOD September 17th.

You can watch the trailer below.
