How to Ensure Your Personal Safety When You Move To Indore

Are you off to finding your place in a new city that’s as quirky and exciting as Indore? Well, whether it’s college or a new job that has got you here, we know you are already buzzing and ready to start exploring as much as possible. But as you move into your girls hostel in Indore and get to know about all the events and parties that await you, you suddenly remember that you no longer live at home. That’s right, there are no parents to check on you every hour and no childhood friends to keep you company all the time. You’re on your own, and you’re responsible for your own safety.

Don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds. In fact, keeping yourself safe and staying alert is possible even while enjoying yourself to the fullest. All you need to do is be mindful of yourself and your surroundings. And even though Indore is a pretty safe place to live, if you’re wondering how exactly to stay cautious and on your guard, we’ve got some tips to ensure that you can always maximise your personal security.

    Buddy up

There’s safety in numbers. When you’re new to a city and you’re starting off exploring, try to ensure you’re travelling in a group or with at least one other person, especially if you’re going somewhere unfamiliar. If you’ve been invited to an off-campus party or even if you’re checking out a new restaurant, ask some of your buddies or roommates to keep you company. You’ll feel a lot safer when you have more friendly faces around, and you’ll end up having more fun too. And if you’ve come to Indore for work and don’t yet know anyone, avoid travelling late at night as much as possible, or make sure you keep your friends and family informed of your whereabouts. Keeping your emergency contacts on speed dial or sharing your live location while you’re travelling with someone you trust can also be good habits to keep you safe.

    Get your own drinks

Constant vigilance! It’s not just Mad Eye Moody’s catchphrase, it should be yours too, especially when you’re out at a bar or a party. Even if you’re among friends, it’s best not to let your guard down too much. In order to be on the safe side, don’t accept any drinks from strangers or leave your glass unattended. This is the best way of ensuring that no one can sneak something in when you’re not looking. And if you taste something that doesn’t seem right, don’t just chug it down anyway. Even if no one has tampered with your drink it could be a sign that there’s something wrong with the ingredients or syrup used in it. Either way, you’re better off giving it a miss.

    Carry some tools

There’s no shame in carrying some tools that you can use for self-defence. In fact, it may even be a good idea. You can invest in a small can of pepper spray or mace or go old school and keep some chilli powder in your bag. Most of the time, carrying these items will help you feel a lot safer and reduce your paranoia, even if you don’t actually need them. You could also invest in a keyring alarm or personal alarm that you can keep on yourself at all times and use to alert passers-by in the case of an emergency.

    Choose safe accommodation

When you’re moving to Indore, the place that you’re living becomes super important towards ensuring your personal security. Ensure that your hostel or PG is located in a safe and well-lit neighbourhood. A local hostel with an old guard-at-the-gate system may not be good enough anymore. Instead opting for a managed accommodation provider like Stanza Living will ensure that you’re able to rest easy. Their tech-enabled security system with CCTV surveillance and biometric entry will reassure you of your personal security and provide you with a system you can trust.

    Learn self-defence

Finally, if you’re tired of looking over your shoulder and want to equip yourself with some basic defence skills, you can sign up for a self-defence course to strengthen your knowledge of how to protect yourself. Not only will this help you have more knowledge about what to expect and how to combat dangerous situations, it’ll make you feel more confident about keeping yourself and your friends safe.

So, there you have it. The ways to ensure your personal safety are in your control. You just need to keep an eye out and put our tips into practice. With these methods, you’ll be able to explore and enjoy your new city to your heart’s content without having anything to worry about.
