“Ghost of Tsushima” is a solitary experience. Sure, Jin will meet many allies as he takes down the Mongol invaders. However, the core experience of the game truly shines when Jin explores the island alone and battles enemies along the way. That’s why Sucker Punch’s announcement of a co-op multiplayer mode is so surprising. Now, you and three friends will be able to battle enemies and explore the world together in “Legends.”

You won’t find our good friend Jin anywhere in this new mode. Instead, you will play as one of four warriors, all legends in Tsushima. There are four character classes to choose from: Samurai, Hunter, Ronin or Assassin. Each class has its own unique abilities and combat style. Depending on the size of your team, different missions will be available to conquer. Two players can take on co-op story missions while a group of four will be able to tackle wave-based survival missions. Sometime after launch, a super challenging four-player raid feature will also be added to multiplayer.
“Ghosts of Tsushima: Legends” will be a much more fantastical experience. Enemies and locations will be heavily inspired by Japanese folklore and mythology. This means we could encounter beings such as Susanoo, the God of Storms, or even Yokai, supernatural spirits and demons. You’ll need strong teamwork and quick thinking to overpower these new and terrifying enemies. Sucker Punch will be revealing more details on features such as character classes, enemies and customization as the mode gets closer to launch.
For now, you can check out the cinematic trailer and get a glimpse of the four classes.
Legends is coming to “Ghost of Tsushima” for free in autumn 2020.
