We can’t say we had a Danny Trejo and Aspercreme team-up on our 2026 bingo cards, but here we are. The prolific actor is embarking on a campaign with the company to knock out ageist stereotypes with the “KO Boomer” campaign. Considering Trejo stars in the Bad Ass films, which all center around an older man kicking ass, this is one of the most on-brand collaborations we’ve ever seen.

“KO Boomer” is a national movement that is a play on the dated “OK, Boomer” memes. The whole thing was launched on National Boomer Appreciation Day with a call to action. The company and Trejo are demanding that the outdated definition of “Boomer” be changed. Fitting in with Aspercreme’s mission to help support and empower the over-50 community. What better way to do that than with an 82-year-old who’s known for kicking ass? Trejo’s physique and strong work ethic embody the idea that nothing should stand in the way of an active life. Tom Cillo, Mirna Valerio, and Marco Hurtado also star in the new campaign.
“I was reading some of these definitions of a ‘Boomer’ online, and frankly, it made me mad,” Trejo said in a press release. “The internet seems to think getting older means sitting down and being out of touch? I don’t think so. That’s why I’m teaming up with Aspercreme to turn ‘OK, Boomer’ into ‘KO Boomer.’ We’re taking action to change that definition and prove we’re still in the game.”

The Boomer Mindset
“The KO Boomer movement is about more than just challenging a meme; it’s about championing a mindset,” said Rob Carter, Head of Brand & Innovation, Topical Pain North America, Opella. “Aspercreme has always been a brand that enables people to live their lives without compromise. We’re proud to provide the fast, targeted, odor-free pain relief that helps people of all ages knock out pain and continue to live powerfully.”
Aspercreme has launched a petition calling for a new definition of “Boomer” here. Alongside the KO Boomer Sweepstakes, in which you can enter for a chance to win a prize pack designed to fuel an active lifestyle. This includes a $4,000 gift card towards an active vacation at select locations. Plus a pair of Trejo-signed KO Boomer boxing gloves.
However, we would like to point out that the 4th definition for the word “Boomer” in the Merriam-Webster dictionary is: “a person born during a baby boom: baby boomer.” So they are talking more of a cultural definition than a literal one. Unless they’re petitioning Urban Dictionary, and in that case, good luck on that Boomer-style quest.
