At this point, fans of the Evil Dead franchise expect two things: Deadites and buckets of blood. It sounds like we are getting both with Sébastien Vaniček’s upcoming Evil Dead Burn. In a recent interview, the filmmaker teased a scene that had to be cut to receive an R-Rating.

“There is a scene that is not R-rated,” Vaničekin said in the latest issue of SFX magazine (via GamesRadar). “It’s a really, really hard scene. And I have to cut it, unfortunately, so you just won’t experience it as brutally as it is right now because I need to have the R-rated movie. So we are trying to find a good balance.”
But that doesn’t mean fans will never see it. “The director’s cut will be way more violent than what we will have in the theater,” he adds.
Considering the franchise’s fascination with amputations like Ash (Bruce Campbell) cutting his hand off in Evil Dead 2, or the arm sawing in the 2013 reboot. We can only imagine what was considered too much for censors.
Evil Dead Burn centers around a grieving widow who uses the Necronomicon at her in-laws’ secluded home, in search of comfort. It’s not too long before Deadites start showing up and taking over one by one.
It stars Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), Hunter Doohan (Wednesday), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), Tandi Wright (Pearl), and George Pullar (It Only Takes a Night).
Evil Dead Burn hits theaters on July 10th. You can check out the trailer below:
