In 2003, Erin Hunter released Into the Wild, the first book in the now best-selling Warrior Cats series. An upcoming television adaptation has just signed on Emmy award winner Rodrigo Blaas (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia) to direct, with A.C. Bradley (Ms. Marvel) attached as showrunner.
Publishers Coolabi Group and Tencent Video are backing the project.

This will be the first official adaptation of Hunter’s fantasy series. It’s not to be confused with an attempted feature film by Alibaba Pictures, which is now abandoned.
Hunter’s novels center around clans of battling feral cats. The show will be based on the first series of books, Warrior Cats: The Prophecies Begin.
“We’re excited to partner with Coolabi on Warrior Cats, a franchise that embodies the future of global storytelling,” says Tina Ma, Co-President and COO of Tencent Video, in a statement. “Together we’re bringing the beloved Warrior Cats world to new platforms and markets in a way that feels both familiar and fresh, creating an animated series designed to captivate existing fans and win new ones.”
The Warrior Cats series is expected to debut in 2028 on Tencent Video’s platforms across China and Southeast Asia. We’ll keep you posted on project updates as they become available.
