1980s throwback A Man in the Woods With an Axe has been in production since April. Horror Dadz Productions recently shared some bloody first-look images of the upcoming slasher on social media.

Written and directed by Dillon Brown (Primal Darkness), it’s a genre-twisting homage to the beloved slashers subgenre. Starting in 1987, A Man in the Woods With an Axe looks like your by-the-numbers horror film. A group of young people ventures out into the woods only to start being hunted down by the titular killer. However, this won’t stay that formulaic.
“This is an unapologetic love letter to the films that made me fall in love with horror,” Brown tells Bloody Disgusting. “But I didn’t just want to recreate that feeling; I wanted to challenge it. About halfway through, the film takes a turn that completely changes how you view not only this story, but the genre itself.”

Going on to describe it as “far and away the bloodiest film I’ve ever made.” A claim we’re inclined to believe, given that Cody Ruch (CarousHELL1-3), an instructor at Tom Savini’s Special Make-Up Effects Program, is handling the effects.
A Man in the Woods With an Axe is currently set for an early 2027 release. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the film as they become available.
