Monkey Shaped Squeeze Toys Recalled Due to Asbestos Risks

We’ve covered some interesting product recalls here at Nerdbot. You may recall the radioactive shrimp debacle of 2025. Sadly, cost cutting and unsanitary conditions have created situations like this. How do radioactive isotypes find their way into shrimp? How does asbestos find its way into children’s toys? It’s a question that shouldn’t have to be asked. Regrettably, it does have to be asked and parents have to be on the lookout for certain toys that need to be disposed of.

Between February 2025 and April 2026, both Walmart and Ollie’s Bargain Outlet sold some squeeze toys in the shape of monkeys. In particular you should be on the look out for a large golden monkey and smaller ones in different colors. The give away will be the date code stamped on the hand or back of the monkeys. The code 3102491A indicates the toy is dangerous. These monkeys were potentially exposed to a kind of asbestos called fibrous tremolite.

    Extreme Caution

The sand inside is especially hazardous and needs to be carefully cleaned. Caution needs to be taken by wearing a mask and gloves and then disposing of everything in a heavy duty bag. Then you’re requested to double bag that. So, for god’s sake, do NOT puncture your monkey.

There is a way to potentially get a refund as well through The Orb Factory, the company that distributed the toy. You’ll have to take a picture of your toxic monkey, verify the lot number and all that stuff. For more detail you can call them at 800-741-0089 or email them at customerservice@orbtoys.com. This isn’t stuff to mess around with either. Breathing in these fibers can cause fatal lung damage. Get rid of it as safely and as quickly as you can.
