Life Is Strange adaptation from Prime Video is expanding. The exciting update follows the announcement of four new actors who are joining the already-established cast.
Tom Cullen, Leisha Hailey, Raúl Castillo, and Owen Teague have all been added to the cast of the adaptation. They join the previously known lineup of Maisy Stella and Tatum Grace Hopkins. The show is an adaptation of the video game series of the same name.
Cullen will appear as Mark Jefferson, Max’s teacher, while Hailey will portray Joyce Price, Chloe’s mother. Castillo will play David Madsen, Chloe’s stepfather, and Owen Teague will appear as Frank Bowers, a local drug dealer.
The four are joining a show that is already attracting massive attention. The story follows Max, a student studying photography, who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time while saving her childhood best friend Chloe. As the two try to figure out what’s happening, they investigate a missing student, only to find a dark underbelly of their town that will leave the pair with an impossible decision between life and death.
All four have impressive credits. Cullen will next appear as Ser Luthor Largent in House of the Dragon Season 3 when the Game of Thrones spinoff returns on HBO. Hailey is best known for playing a main character in The L Word, as well as the spin-off series The L Word: Generation Q. She is also a renowned musician, co-founding the bands The Murmurs and Uh Huh Her. Castillo previously starred in the critically acclaimed HBO series Looking. They will also be appearing in season 3 of The Walking Dead: Dead City for AMC. Teague, who played Noa in the 2024 Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, brings substantial genre experience to his role as Frank Bowers.
Behind the scenes
The project brings on a formidable creative team. Charlie Covell, of End of the F***ing World and KAOS, is the creator, executive producer and showrunner. Karyn Kusama is set to direct the first two episodes and executive produce via her Famlistyle production banner. Mackenzie Dohr writes and also executive produces alongside Covell.
The series is from Square Enix, Story Kitchen and LuckyChap, with Amazon MGM Studios producing. Production is set to start June 29, 2026, and wrap October 16, 2026. No release date is set yet.
“It’s a huge honor to be adapting Life Is Strange for Amazon MGM Studios,” the showrunner told the press upon the announcement. “I am a massive fan of the game, and I’m thrilled to be working with the incredible teams at Square Enix, Story Kitchen and LuckyChap.”
Life Is Strange will debut exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
