Psychological thriller Tumor has secured a powerhouse supporting cast. Chris Messina, Michael Peña, Esai Morales, and Gigi Zumbado will team up with Sam Rockwell and Maisy Stella.
The film was announced last year with Rockwell and Stella as leads, with filmmaker Will Bridges directing. It is based on the graphic novel by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Noel Tuazon.

What is Tumor About?
In Tumor, a down-on-his-luck Los Angeles private investigator has to face down the dysfunctional squad of L.A.’s young and privileged to find the missing daughter of a wealthy businessman. Although he’s straining against the crippling symptoms of a late-stage brain tumor, his hold on reality is slipping. As the mismatched team takes to the road, old memories of a dark past finally catch up to the present.
Every new addition to the cast is a person of serious gravitas. In addition to season two of HBO’s The White Lotus, Messina also stars in the StudioCanal D-Day feature film Pressure, releasing on May 29.
Peña, who most recently appeared in Peacock comedy series All Her Fault, will appear in Amazon’s forthcoming MGM films Judgment Day and Subversion. Morales, who is one of the principals in War Machine and Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning. Zumbado, who most recently appeared in CBS’ series DMV, and who also has appeared in The Lincoln Lawyer, Bride Hard, and Heart Eyes.
On the camera side of things, this is a major direction change for Bridges. Tumor is the writer/director’s follow-up to Apple sci-fi romance All of You, in which he stars alongside Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots.
Thoughts on The Film
Producer Daniela Taplin Lundberg was thrilled with the pairing when the project was announced. “Will has crafted an electrifying duo in Frank Armstrong and Evie Gibson, two combustible forces colliding in a relentless fight for survival. With Sam Rockwell and Maisy Stella bringing them to life, their dynamic is raw, unexpected, and utterly gripping. But what makes them truly special is the sharp, dark humor that cuts through the tension.”
The film is awarded the California Tax Credit and is being produced by Taplin Lundberg for Stay Gold Features. There is currently no release date, but with production wrapped, the thriller is only one step closer to reaching audiences.
