Well with what happened on episode 5 of Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans we’re going into this thinking that a merge is coming. There’s no reason that two tribes went to tribal other than they’re culling the teams in order to do a merge and cut 3 tribes into 2. It’s likely they will have teams mesh and we’ll potentially see some interesting conversations between senders and recipients of the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol.
Here’s the rundown of the last episode. DON’T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE FIFTH EPISODE UNLESS YOU WANT SPOILERS
As a reminder here’s who has been voted off or ejected from the island already.
Kyle Fraser (VATU)– medically evacuated after a likely Achilles injury during a challenge.
Jenna Lewis-Dougherty (CILA)– first player voted out after targeting Cirie Fields.
Savannah Louie (CILA)– voted out in the second episode after Cirie redirected the vote.
Q Burdette (Voted out in episode 3 after a chaotic performance following the tribe swap. His tactic backfired.)
THIS EPISODE HAD TWO TRIBES VOTE OFF MEMBERS – HERE ARE THE NAMES
- Angelina Keeley (Vatu tribe) Angelina was sent home unanimously. After attempting to vote her off during the last tribal and ultimately blindsiding Mike White who wanted to shift the vote to Emily she was finally taken out. Keeley was one of the final members of the David vs. Goliath alliance. Now only Christian Hubicki remains from that season.
- Charlie Davis (Cila tribe) Charlie was eliminated in a narrow 4-3 vote after trying to get Rizo voted out. Rizo played up his time on Survivor 40 as a way to gain trust with the tribe and it worked. Ultimately Kamila rightly figured that her vote would be the decider and she came to the conclusion that Charlie’s game was too slow and chose him.
And here’s who has an idol:
Rizo: Possesses the BEBI passed from Genevieve
Ozzy Lusth: Received an idol from Genevieve. Shot in the dark obtained from Christian.
Aubry Bracco: Received a boomerang idol from Christian
Cirie Fields: Possesses an extra vote advantage passed by Ozzy
Going into this we knew that KALO was going to be weakest of the three tribes (again) competing for immunity. This episode Jeff announced that there would be only one winner of the immunity challenge and both other teams would be headed to tribal. It’s my belief that this was in order to cull the teams enough for the a merge in the next episode. We suspect that there will be a merge that splits the current 19 cast members into two groups. The two losing teams were KALO and CILA. The real MVP of the challenge for VATU was Tiffany Ervin who tore through the satchels like a mad woman. She undid the ropes to get the sand bags at such a high speed that she put her tribe back in the game after a rough start.
On the Chopping Block
Vatu
After the immunity challenge we saw all the teams head back to the beach. Back at the Vatu camp it was kind of sweaty for Christian Hubicki who really pissed off Ozzy Lusth. Since Christian kept him out of the loop for the Mike White vote because he thought (rightfully so) that Ozzy would have blown up that plan. He asked Christian for his shot in the dark in order to make things right with him but it was still very unclear who Ozzy would vote for.
It seems like his trust is restored (for now) since ultimately they voted out Angelina who was aligned with Mike White previously. She was a number for the David vs. Goliath season which had been whittled down to just one. Christian. Christian and Ozzy clearly have the team under control, now it’s going to be a competition between the two to get the other out first. No one will want to vote out Ozzy because he’s a great challenge competitor. He’d be a big loss if he were to go for any team since he’s so good at challenges.
Cila
On the Cila beach it was a battle between Rizo and Charlie. Charlie was trying to get Rizo out because of his morals about how Rizo played his season. Ever since Rizo told him that he voted against his number one Charlie had put a target on his back. Unfortunately the rest of the team didn’t see it his way. I don’t remember if he told anyone why he wanted to vote out Rizo but that would have been a good selling point. It came down to Kamila who realized that Charlie was too slow for this game.
Both Rizo and Charlie went to Kamila and told her about the BEBI idol and she played it so well. Totally feigning that she knew anything about it when Charlie came to her even though Rizo told her first. She’s earned major points with me for how she played it this last episode. Charlie was voted out even though it appeared that Rizo was gloating about how well he played his season. His retelling of the events of his season probably would have made me want to vote him out sooner but it appears that he’s gained even more trust with those on his beach. Especially when it comes to Cirie Fields who revealed to Rizo that she had an extra vote from Ozzy.

Easiest Vote if the Tribes Merge vs Smartest Vote
We’re kind of split on what’s happening in episode 6. There may be a merge happening where three teams become two. Especially since KALO is down to four people. If they go to rocks and choose new teams and new buffs we think that there are a couple people that might be targeted based on their previous seasons and reputation.
If Genevieve has anything to do with the votes we believe that either Rizo or Ozzy would be targeted. Probably not this soon in the game but that is ultimately her end game here. Should they be voted off with an idol in their pocket Genevieve gets it back.
Possible Votes For Episode 6
Strategically it would be good to get off some of the players who had the most individual immunity wins. We’re also assuming that it will be a woman voted off because there seems to be a trend this game of the guys teaming up with each other. For example Coach “knighted” two alliance members, Joe and Colby who are the only two men on the team with him.
Going by that logic we think that it would probably be between Chrissy Hofbeck who won 5 immunity challenges in Season 35 Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers. She holds the record for most immunity wins in any given season. She’s also a good strategist and was her seasons runner up. So her story at the end should she make it would be a good redemption arc.
Christian still has a target on his back and if Ozzy wanted to he could pull enough votes to get him out. If he can talk people into it though because if the teams merge and Devens is put back on a team with Christian they could sway the vote any way they wanted. Those two together are a dangerous duo and the cast members on the island have not realized it yet.
There is also a possibility that Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick won a total of 3 individual immunity challenges across her Survivor career. She was also a runner up in Survivor 11: Guatemala and played a great game strategically. She’s still under the radar but if she gets offered up as an option we think it would be a solid choice.
