Canadian actor William Shatner (“Star Trek”) and Bronx-born astrophysicist/author Neil deGrasse Tyson may not seem to have much in common. But the pair are actually really good friends! These BFFs had an almost 5-hour chat and have released it as the new audio original program, “Cosmos Confidential: Bill & Neil’s Excellent Bromance.”

“One more: 2026 — Star Trek’s 60th Anniversary,” Tyson posted. “I shat with William Shatner for 5-hrs in his LA backyard. We shared personal stories of our lives & careers that we’ve never before shared publicly.”
We’re pretty sure “shat” isn’t a typo, given the attached video talks about Tyson walking dogs growing up and not cleaning up their poop. (He’s also a verified user, with an edit button, and plenty of commenters immediately let him know.)
“Cosmos Confidential” is recorded in the backyard of Shatner’s Los Angeles home. Chatting about the little things, “the quest for knowledge that has driven human exploration.” Alongside talking about their respective childhoods and careers through the decades. As well as dipping into mutual interests like black holes, the behavior of light, quantum physics, the beauty and complexity of the universe, and spirituality.
“Cosmos Confidential: Bill & Neil’s Excellent Bromance” is currently available on Amazon, Audible, Barnes and Noble, Books a Million, and bookshop.com.
