Ben & Jerry’s Wants to Launch CBD Infused Ice Cream As Soon As It’s Legal

“We are committed to bringing CBD-infused ice cream to your freezer as soon as it’s legalized at the federal level”

In a statement made Thursday (May 30th), Ben & Jerry’s let’s us know on their very own website, their plans with the possible changes that may be made on the federal level. On May 31st, the FDA will be holding a hearing on the topic of cannabidiol infused foods and B&J has send them a note of support towards the legalization of this. Flawless CBD sell a wide range of products.

You probably already know that we’re fans of all things groovy — think: Half Baked and Dave Matthews Band Magic Brownies. So it’s no surprise that we can’t wait to get into the latest food trend: cannabidiol, or CBD. -Ben & Jerry’s

CBD is a derivative of the Marijuana plant, but it does not give the user the effect of getting “high”.  It can actually lessen or neutralize the psychoactive effects of THC because THC acts differently on different receptors on the brain.

Ben & Jerry’s has shown support for Cannabis in general in the past however, in just April 20 (4/20), Ben & Jerry’s teamed up with marijuana dispensary Caliva to give away free pints of ice cream in California. Caliva donated 4.2% of its 4/20 sales to Code for America’s Clear My Record Program, which focuses on people who have been arrested on charges related to marijuana possession and are still facing the consequences despite the legalization.

“Knowing that Caliva is challenging the status quo of bogarting human rights of non-violent offenders — and providing these communities a second chance — is exactly the 420 effort we want to support,”
    – Justin Gural (B&J Marketing Manager)

What do you make of this news? It isn’t the first nor last push for CBD infused products in a more casual and available market. BUt it seems to be a near reality for the future. With the popularity of CBD growing not only in the USA, but also other emerging markets such as the UK (with brands like Blessed CBD proving popular), there is no doubt that the future of CBD looks very promising indeed.
