Slender Man Attacker Morgan Geyser Arrested After Escaping Group Home

In 2014, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier lured Peyton Leutner into a park where they attempted to stab her to death. They believed the heinous act would win the favor of the fictional character Slender Man. The girls were all just 12 years old, and their depraved crime shook the town of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and the nation.

On November 22nd, 2025, Geyser cut off her ankle monitor and escaped the group home she is staying in. She was found at a truck stop in Posen, Illinois, about 20 miles south of Chicago.

In 2014, Geyser and Weier told Leutner they were going to have a sleepover for Geyser’s birthday. However, Geyser, who was obsessed with the creepypasta Slender Man, intended to kill Leutner to impress the character. Thankfully, their intended victim was able to crawl to the road, where she was found by a cyclist, ultimately surviving the attack.

For her part in the attempted killing, Geyser pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted first-degree murder. This was a part of a deal to sentence her to time in a mental institution instead of jail. She was placed in the Winnebago Mental Health Institute for almost 7 years.

After that, she was placed in the group home that she ultimately escaped from. She was last seen in the immediate area around 8 P.M. on Saturday, November 22nd, in the company of another adult. It is still unclear at this time how she cut off the device and if she received any kind of help in doing so.

When her attorney, Tony Cotton, got wind of the situation, he pleaded with her to turn herself in. “We worked too hard to secure her freedom for her to continue on this path,” he said.

How this will affect Geyser’s sentencing is unknown at this time. We will keep you posted on updates about this situation as it develops.
