Many a child has grown up over the last 60 something years with Little People toys. The Fisher-Price figures have been a staple in toyboxes and still remain as popular today as they are iconic. Many a child has also grown up over the last 40 something years with “A Christmas Story.“ The 1983 classic has worked its way into homes across the world. (Thanks to the 24 hour marathon broadcasts it would get on TNT on Christmas day.) So, Little People, “A Christmas Story”… why not put the two together?
This holiday season, that combination has become a reality. Fisher-Price and their parent company Mattel have released a four-piece Little People set based off “A Christmas Story!” The set includes the Parker family in all of their iconic glory.
You have Ralphie in his pink bunny outfit, and you have his brother Randy in his extremely thorough winter gear. Then you have “the Old Man,” Mr. Parker holding onto his major award leg lamp with Mrs. Parker just… well, she has her hair and that green sweater. Just like in the film itself, she’s the only relatively normal one in the bunch.
It is an adorable little collection. “A Christmas Story” is about Americana just as much as it is about the holidays, and Little People is similarly steeped in American culture. If you want the set ready for the holidays, now’s the time to jump on it while everyone else is Halloween shopping.
