Near the end of last year, a revival of the sitcom “Scrubs” was announced. It had been rumored for a while, but then the project secured creator Bill Lawrence (“Shrinking“) and original cast members like Zach Braff. Many returning characters and actors were confirmed, and now we know they’ve gathered for a table read!
A photo of the cast and creator, Lawrence, was shared across social media. “A new chapter begins,” Braff captioned it. Indeed, it is set to be a new chapter though the plot details have been left ambiguous up to now. Lawrence has described the project as “a hybrid between a revival, revisiting original characters a decade and a half after the original series ended its run, and a reboot, bringing back the original concept with new surgical interns.”

The only potential danger with that is how, minus the time gap, that’s exactly what the ninth season of “Scrubs” was. And it didn’t go well. Maybe time and absence will make the heart grow fonder as audiences pine to see J.D., Turk (Donald Faison), Carla, (Judy Reyes), Elliot, (Sarah Chalke), and Dr. Perry Cox (John C. McGinley), back together again. Who else is going to show up alongside them? “Scrubs” became well known for its side-characters too like the Janitor, Hooch, and Perry’s ex-wife, Jordan.
A premiere date for the season has not yet been announced but we do know it will have Lawrence serving as an executive producer, with former “Scrubs” writers and producers, Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra serving as showrunners and EPs as well. We’ll provide more updates as they come out, and if you want to catch up on “Scrubs” prior to the revival, the series is available in its entirety on Hulu.
