Square Enix‘s External Studios released the video game “Life is Strange” in 2015. Over the past decade, it has spawned six more games along with comics and book series. For years, there have been rumblings of a tv series, and it seems Amazon MGM may make it happen.
A live-action “Life Is Strange” TV series has officially been greenlit for Amazon Prime Video.

The show will follow Max, a photography student, who discovers she can rewind time. She soon uses this ability to save the life of her childhood best friend, Chloe. The pair begin to investigate her new skill while trying to solve the disappearance of a fellow student. Their quest uncovers a dark side to their town that will ultimately force them to make an impossible life-or-death choice.
The script will be written by Charlie Covell, who is also showrunning and executive producing. Story Kitchen’s Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson will executive produce alongside him.
Reactions to A “Life is Strange” Series
“Story Kitchen has always believed that ‘Life is Strange’ deserved to be more than just a game—it’s a cultural touchstone,” said Johnson and Goldberg. “After a decade-long journey, we’re honored to be bringing this beloved story to Amazon MGM alongside our incredible partners at Square Enix, our brilliant showrunner/writer Charlie Covell, and the amazing team at LuckyChap. Together, this thoughtfully assembled dream team is ready to share Life is Strange with the world in an entirely new way!”
“For years we’ve had so many people asking us to create a ‘Life is Strange’ TV show and we’re so pleased to finally partner with Amazon MGM Studios who we trust will do an incredible job bringing our universe to life,” explains Jon Brooke and Lee Singleton, studio heads at Square Enix.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about the “Life is Strange” TV series as the project develops.
