The soundtrack to “KPop Demon Hunters” has just set a brand new record for the Billboard Hot 100. Netflix’s runaway hit is the first soundtrack to have four songs in the top 10 simultaneously! “Golden” takes the number one spot, along with “Your Idol” sitting at number four, both for the second week in a row. The track “Soda Pop” moved from number 10 to number 5 this week.
Newcomer “How it’s Done” climbed its way from the fourteenth spot to the tenth for the first time, setting the record.

Only four movie soundtracks have ever come close to this since Billboard’s Hot 100 launched in 1958. The last one was “Waiting to Exhale” from 1995 to 1996, which had five songs from its soundtrack hit the Hot 100. The tracks include Whitney Houston’s “Exhale (Shoop Shoop),” Toni Braxton’s “Let It Flow,” Brandy’s “Sittin’ Up In My Room,” Mary J. Blige’s “Not Gon’ Cry,” Whitney Houston & CeCe Winans’ “Count On Me.” However, they didn’t take the coveted rankings simultaneously.
In 1978, “Saturday Night Fever” came close with three songs, The Bee Gees’ “How Deep Is Your Love,” “Stayin’ Alive,” and “Night Fever” in the top 10 at the same time. Disco to KPop seems like a logical progression to us.
“KPop Demon Hunters”
The success of the “KPop Demon Hunters” is being chalked up to its hit song “Golden” gaining more radio play. Initially, the tune was mostly a hit on streaming, but this week, radio airplay went up by 39%. Giving it the boost it needed to keep the number one slot secured.
Now that Netflix has launched theatrical sing-along screenings of “KPop Demon Hunters,” interest in the soundtrack is only expected to grow.
You can catch “KPop Demon Hunters” streaming now on Netflix or in select theaters.
