John Carpenter Announces 4 Night Residency at Belasco Theatre

The Master of Horror John Carpenter is a legend. With movies like “The Thing,” “Christine,” “Halloween,” there’s no challenging that. (There’s also “Big Trouble in Little China” and “Escape From New York,” of course.) And beyond all of this, not only is he a brilliant screenwriter and director, but he’s also a damn fine musician too. Those skills are going to be put on full display in spooky season of 2025 thanks to a series of shows at The Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles.

It’s pretty common knowledge that the musical motif for “Halloween,” that chilling piano, is the work of Carpenter. The story goes that after a test screening where the film didn’t get the intended fearful reaction, Carpenter went home, banged out the score in three days, and the rest was history. Fewer people may realize though that Carpenter has created the score all his films, even the ones he didn’t direct. A personal favorite? “Halloween III: Season of the Witch.” That score has Carpenter crafting some dark synthwave that is even more appreciated today than back when it was created.

So along with creating these soundtracks, the horror maestro has also banged out a few albums with his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies. They’re very synth heavy and suitably spooky; things that make them particularly fitting for the Halloween season. This makes a perfect storm for Carpenter’s first musical residency. It’ll run at the aforementioned Belasco Theatre in Las Angeles on October 24th, 25th, 31st, and November 1st, 2025. Details are still a little scarce at this time but his official website lists the dates.

Fans who pre-registered can already start buying seats, and the general public can start buying starting at 7am on January 31st. Tickets can be purchased here.
