HBO Confirms “Euphoria,” “White Lotus” Release Window

HBO is home to a number of hit programs, many of them trying to fill the void left by “Game of Thrones,” which they’re doing admirably with “Dune: Prophecy.” The premium cabler has seen awards and ratings success with more recent shows like “The White Lotus” and “Euphoria.” Both of which have been on the bleachers with their new seasons forthcoming.

Thanks to a media conference we have a bit more info about when those shows will be returning, in addition to other upcoming HBO properties.

    Syndey Sweeney, “Euphoria” HBO

Stating with “Euphoria,” the Emmy winning show wrapped its second season almost three years ago. With a star-studded cast Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer, along with strong ratings and critical acclaim, you’d think the show would be a priority. But, it seems like putting together a third season has been a bit of a chore, with various delays and holdups. HBO has finally said the series will return in 2026. Not the most concrete release date sadly, but if fans were expecting it this upcoming year, at least they know the kind of wait they’re in for.

Speaking of 2026, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Chief of Streaming JB Perrette had some unfortunate news for “Harry Potter” fans. The upcoming series originally slated for 2026 has been pushed back to 2027. Casting is still ongoing for the main roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. “As you look at ’26 and into ’27, you begin a 10-year journey on the ‘Harry Potter’ series, which we’re super excited about,” Perrette said.

More immediately on the horizon are a number of shows for 2025, with “The White Lotus” being the first to return this February. It has been one of the biggest original intellectual properties for HBO, not based on any other existing series or book. Directed and written by Mike White, the show has also brought actress Jennifer Coolidge back into the limelight along with gathering her some much deserved award wins.

Pedro Pascal, “The Last of Us” HBO

Beyond that, 2025 will also see the second season of “The Last of Us“ premiering in the spring, and possibly the “Game of Thrones” prequel series “Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” in the summer. The latter comes with the caveat- sources indicate we won’t see the show until the end of 2025.

It’s a pretty stacked line-up that runs the gamut from comedy, to drama, to fan favorites. When we get more fixed release dates we’ll make sure to update you.
