Claxson and Navajo Entertainment Production are turning the classic sci-fi novels “Arthur C. Clarke’s Venus Prime” into a limited series. It will be directed by Jonathan Frakes (“Star Trek”) from a script by David Cormican (“Tokyo Trial”) and Dwayne Hill (“Northern Rescue”). Cormican and Hill will also executive produce and be showrunners for the series.

“Arthur C. Clarke’s Venus Prime” book series launched in 1987 and ran until 1991. It consisted of 6 novels, “Breaking Strain,” “Maelstrom,” “Hide and Seek,” “The Medusa Encounter,” “The Diamond Moon,” and “The Shining Ones.”  Clarke’s collaborator Paul Preuss is already on board as a consultant for this upcoming adaptation.

“When the materials for ‘Arthur C. Clarke’s Venus Prime’ were presented to me, I couldn’t help but devour them,” Frakes said. “When asked if I wanted to direct what I read —my answer was a resounding and immediate ‘Hell, yes!’ Working on such a tremendous piece of IP from the mind of another sci-fi legend (who is also a contemporary of the true #1 Gene Roddenberry), will be both an honor and a dream for me.”

“Arthur C. Clarke’s Venus Prime,” is currently slated for a six-episode run. The show will tell the story of an amnestic woman, with biomechanically enhanced abilities. She must uncover the truth about her past and purpose. All while she escapes and evades the deadly forces trying to harness her talents to rule the galaxy.

“Bringing ‘Arthur C. Clarke’s Venus Prime’ to audiences is a huge privilege and responsibility,” said Lucas Vivo Garcia Lagos Executive producer. “These books, along with the incredible characters and storylines, have been with me since my adolescence; I have always believed this IP has all the necessary elements to become a major blockbuster. By uniting the collective talents of Preuss, Cormican and Hill with Jonathan Frakes at the helm, we are confident we have assembled the perfect team to realize the cinematic vision we all share for this iconic property”.

“Arthur C. Clarke’s Venus Prime,” is set to go into production at the end of this year in Canada. There is no set release date at this time, but we’ll keep you posted on updates as they become available.
