Since early last year, Max has been hard at work on the “IT” prequel series, “Welcome To Derry” (working title). However, the project has remained secretive about who would play the omnipresent terror known as IT/Pennywise. It’s been confirmed that Bill Skarsgård (“The Crow”) will be reprising his role from the New Line films, to terrorize the children of Maine once more.

“Welcome To Derry,” will serve as a prequel to the two films based on the novel “IT” by horror legend Stephen King. Series co-developer Andy Muschietti will direct four episodes of the nine-part series. The teleplay for the first episode is written by Jason Fuchs.

Skarsgård will not only star in “Welcome To Derry,” but he is also an executive producer on the series, with developers Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Fuchs. The Muschiettis co-directed the 2017 “IT” remake and its 2019 sequel “It Chapter Two,” which Fuchs produced. Roy Lee and Dan Lin will also be returning as producers on the show.

Skarsgård will be joining the previously announced cast of Taylour Paige (“The Toxic Avenger”) and Jovan Adepo (“3 Body Problem”). Along with Chris Chalk (“Perry Mason”) and James Remar (“Megalopolis”).

“Welcome To Derry,” was originally slated to release on Halloween of this year. However, it has been pushed back to 2025. We’ll keep you posted on updates from Derry as they become available. You can check out the first teaser trailer below:
