Just because Halloween is still five months away, doesn’t mean we can’t get excited for it now. Spring seems like the perfect time to start announcing new decorations and the dates for Halloween events. Spooky season hasn’t quite felt the same since the COVID-19 pandemic began, but this year promises an event return. And this event takes place on the “most haunted ship in the world.”

For the first time in four years, the Queen Mary is bringing back it’s Dark Harbor Halloween Event in Long Beach, California this fall. The event previously ran from 2010 to 2019, before the pandemic. With the ship reopening to the public back in April of 2023, it was only a matter of time for the event to come back.

“Dark Harbor has become an iconic part of our city’s Halloween celebrations, and we are excited to once again transform the Queen Mary into a haunted spectacle for scare-goers,” said Long Beach Mayor, Rex Richardson. “Having brought in hundreds of thousands of visitors to Long Beach in years past, its return is another major step in the Queen Mary’s recovery and return to a premier tourist attraction.”

This year’s Dark Harbor will feature “haunted mazes, live entertainment, themed bars and lounges,” according the press release. Event attendees will also have “experiences on-board the ship, festive eats and treats.” Well known event icons the Captain, Ringmaster, and Scary Mary will also be making their return.

The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor- The Spirits Rise will open on September 30th, 2024 and run for select nights through November 2nd. More information regarding new surprised for the event should be released in the coming months. Tickets are scheduled to start selling later this summer
