GoPro’s Grom Quest Challenge has led to a 12-year-old BMX rider nailing a triple backflip. Connor Stitt of Ramona, California, is now the youngest rider in the world to land this trick! He was one of eight athletes selected through the challenge this month.

“Landing the triple backflip was unbelievable! I was definitely surprised when I pulled it off,” Stitt told Nexstar’s KSWB. “It was something I had been dreaming of and working towards for a long time. After landing it, I felt an insane rush of excitement and a bit of relief knowing all my hard work and practice paid off. It was one of the best moments of my life!”

The teen submitted a raw POV recording of the stunt to GoPro to confirm his achievement. Stitt says he only got serious about riding when he was 8. So, with only five years of practice, he is already blowing everyone out of the water.

    Hard Work Pays Off

The footage earned him a contract with GoPro for a monetary and equipment sponsorship to help advance his career. “Being chosen as one of GoPro’s youngest elite athletes feels absolutely amazing! I’m super grateful for this opportunity,” Stitt adds. “It’s like a dream come true, and it motivates me to push even harder and go even bigger in my riding.”

Stitt will also meet with GoPro’s roster of established world-class pro athletes. Along with having his talents showcased on GoPro’s social media accounts to help grow his personal brand. He cites Ryan Williams, Logan Martin, Pat Casey, and Daniel Sandoval as inspirations and admires their dedication to BMX.

“I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me and how it helps me grow in my career,” he said. “I hope to compete in bigger competitions, meet more of my heroes, and inspire other kids around the world to chase their dreams too.”

    Advice to Young Riders

Despite Stitt’s age, he still offered valuable advice to his peers and younger riders. “For other young riders hoping to go pro, my advice is to never give up, follow your dreams and keep pushing even when it gets hard because there’s always a reward at the end.”

We look forward to seeing more great things out of Stitt as he continues to grow as an athlete. Check out a video of the amazing stunt here:
