Netflix has confirmed the next season of “Monster,” which will focus on the Menendez murders, will star Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“Dune”) and Chloë Sevigny (“American Horror Story: Hotel”). The duo will portray Jose and Kitty Menendez, who were murdered by their sons Lyle and Erik. The mini-series will also star newcomers Nicholas Alexander (“General Hospital”) and Chavez Cooper Koch (“They/Them”) as the troubled siblings.

“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” will tell the story of the Menendez brothers who were convicted in 1996 of shooting their parents to death seven years prior. The pair maintained that the crime was an act of self-defense due to the years of horrific abuse they suffered at the hands of their parents. While the prosecution claimed they just wanted to inherit their father’s millions. The case shocked the nation and their trial dominated the news cycle for months even after their convictions.

This season will be a follow-up to “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” about the prolific serial killer. While controversial, it shattered Netflix records by being one of only four shows to hit one billion view hours in its first 60 days. This level of success led to an order for two more seasons from creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. We still don’t know what case(s) season three might cover.

“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” will hit Netflix later on this year. We’ll keep you posted on any updates as they become available. You can catch “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” on Netflix here.
